TNMU is the First among Medical Universities of Ukraine in the Webometrics Rating
The Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics), a ranking of the world universities, has been recently published for the results of higher education institutions’ affairs in the second half of 2020. The ranking is prepared by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) under the Ministry of Science and Innovation of this country. The developers publish the results twice a year: in July and January.

In the new rating, Ternopil National Medical University is the first among medical universities of Ukraine and the seventeenth among 316 national universities. In total, this time more than 30,000 universities around the world were estimated in the web space.
The Webometrics ranking has been compiled since 2004 by one of the biggest scientific institutions in Europe – the National Research Council of Spain.
According to the authors, the Webometrics ranking by independent web indicators and an evidence based model evaluates all aspects of the university affairs: research, education, culture, social matters, sports, etc. This is a distinctive feature of this ranking from other Internet ratings.
When determining the position of the university in the ranking, the developers take into account the following aspects:
Excellence (or Scholar) – the number of articles by scientists working at the university, which are among the top 10% of the most cited in 26 disciplines according to Scimago for 2013-2017.
Presence – the amount of pages in the institution’s domain (all subdomains and file types are taken into account) according to the Google.
Visibility – the total of external sources that contain backlinks to the university web pages, which is calculated using the external link analysis service Ahrefs.com and the Majestic, a link analysis system for Internet search optimization and marketing.
