Ternopil National Medical University Students Teach Schoolchildren First Aid Skills

On January 22, 2025, as part of the LIFESTRAND project under the ERASMUS+ program “Training and Dissemination of Emergency Care Skills for Higher Education Institutions and Communities in Conflict Zones in Ukraine and Georgia,” a training session was organized for 9th–11th grade schoolchildren of the Narkevychi Lyceum in Khmelnytskyi district.

Forty schoolchildren could observe demonstrations and practice practical skills using modern equipment in basic life support, stopping critical bleeding, and transport immobilization. Additionally, they practiced providing first aid in cases involving foreign objects in the upper respiratory tract and other life-threatening conditions.

The training was conducted by junior instructors of the project—Nazarii Krulyk, Yuliana Skip, Oksana Petryshyn, and Vitalina Sulyma—who are students at Ternopil National Medical University. The future medical professionals and the schoolchildren gained a positive experience from their interactions. The instructors were inspired by the diligence and interest the lyceum students showed during the training. The students actively participated, asked numerous questions, and discussed various emergency situations.

This event gave Ternopil National Medical University students another opportunity to enhance their communication, professional, pedagogical, and interpersonal skills.
