About New Academic Year at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University

The 2024-2025 academic year at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University will commence on September 1, 2024. This decision was made at the Council of Rectors of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine meeting held on June 24, 2024.

Given the serious situation in the energy sector due to attacks by the Russian Federation on critical infrastructure, it is crucial to find solutions that take these factors into account while ensuring the quality of the educational process. Therefore, to optimize the educational process, plans include compressing the academic schedule, using Saturdays as workdays, extending the winter holidays, extending the educational process into July 2025, and conducting practical training rotations during this period.

Higher education institutions under the management of the Ministry of Health not only provide theoretical education but also ensure that students acquire practical (clinical) skills in medical facilities, which are currently operating under challenging energy conditions, just like the entire country. Optimizing educational programs will reduce the number of school days in the winter period, thereby reducing the burden on the energy system.

The educational process for the 2024-2025 academic year is planned to proceed in a traditional (classroom) format. Changes regarding the format of educational activities are possible and will be made taking into account the state of energy supply and the current situation in the country.

I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University is prepared for the upcoming autumn-winter period with flexible scheduling options for the educational process and the utilization of alternative energy sources.
