Representatives of the University of Bergen, Norway, Bente Moen and the Institute of Global Health, Georgia, Heorhiy Shakarishvili, expanded on the concept and statute of the Eurasian Alliance for Global Health.

During the discussion of the founding documents of the alliance, it was emphasized that currently most countries of the Eurasian continent do not have an established global role in health care on the world stage, and have not developed global academic health centres to generate and disseminate knowledge about global health challenges and decisions.

It was also noted that the COVID-19 pandemic showed how unprepared the world was to effectively manage global health issues. These challenges require a truly concerted effort at the international level. This necessitates the creation of a common platform for academic institutions in the Eurasian region, which can help these countries to increase their professional competence in global health in order to establish themselves on the world stage.

After discussing the concept of the alliance, the statute and the agreement between the member organizations of the consortium, Professor Olaf Horstik was elected the Chairman of the Eurasian Alliance for Global Health, the representative of the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (Germany).
