Associate Professor of TNMU Department of Histology and Embryology Took Internship within “Erasmus + KA107 Project 2019-2022 Teaching Staff Mobility” Program

From 9 to 13 May 2022, Associate Professor of the Department of Histology and Embryology Solomiya Kramar participated in the internship program “Erasmus + KA107. Teaching Staff Mobility” at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain).

The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The university was founded over 500 years ago. According to the number of students, the institution is constantly in the TOP15 in Spain. The university has 30 faculties and schools, 30 research centres.

Solomiya Kramar took internship at the Department of Morphological Sciences under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Professor Jose Luis Labandeira-Garcia and accompanied by the Secretary of the Department Ana Isabel Rodriguez-Perez.

Staff of the Department of Morphological Sciences also demonstrated software that allows students to improve their understanding of the subject, showed the histological laboratory, which produces histological preparations for the educational process.

During the period of internship, first-year students of the Faculty of Medicine were given lectures on “Special Histology” on “Vision”, “Retina”, “Hearing and Balance. Introduction to Pathology”. Ass. Prof. S. Kramar also held practical classes with students on the topic “Histology of Senses”.

Solomiya Kramar also got acquainted with the organization of research work of the Department of Morphological Sciences, visiting the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases Research (CIMUS).

Accompanied by Professor Juan Suarez Quintanilla, Solomiya Kramar visited the Galician Health Service (Centro de Saude das Fontinas), where she had the opportunity to observe the process of providing medical services to the public.

The invaluable experience gained during the mobility program will serve as a good guide while teaching students of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University and will give impetus to new ideas to improve the methodology of classes.

The internship program created new opportunities for cooperation between the Universities of Santiago de Compostela and Ternopil National Medical University.
