TNMU Project Is One of the Winners of Dual Purpose Grant Competition from Ukrainian Startup Fund

Ternopil National Medical University continues to work actively in conditions of full-scale war. In July 2022, in order to participate in the competition for dual-purpose grants from the Ukrainian Startup Fund in the field of “Health Care”, a working group was created, which included representatives of the scientific project management department of TNMU and TNMU Associate Professor Andrii Kovalchuk.

The project team carried out an analysis of product strengths and weaknesses based on the SWOT principle, competitor and market analysis, developed a project activity plan to achieve key performance indicators (KPI).

The project application successfully passed all stages of expert review during October-November 2022, and at the end of January 2023, the project received the approval of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Startup Fund.

During the large-scale invasion of Russian troops, the use of a dermatome in Ukraine is extremely relevant, because it can save the lives of burned soldiers and civilians, relieve suffering in the case of gunshot wounds and burns, which are the most characteristic types of injuries during military operations.

The use of a dermatome makes it possible to carry out a large number of surgical interventions in a short period of time during mass hospitalizations of patients, which is especially relevant in the conditions of martial law.

For reference: in June 2022, the Ukrainian Startup Fund, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, launched a grant support program for dual purpose projects to increase the country’s defence capabilities and post-war reconstruction.

Grant support (non-repayable financial assistance) is provided to projects that carry out activities in the following areas: defence, cyber security, education, infrastructure reconstruction and health care.
