SchoolchildrenMastered Basic First Aid Skills at TNMU
Teenagers represent a social group characterized by high physical and social activity, which often leads to their involvement in various extracurriculars, sports, and community events. Given their natural tendency for risky behavior and experimentation, this age group is frequently at an increased risk of injuries and other accidents. In this context, teaching teenagers first aid skills becomes especially relevant.
Mastering first aid skills instills responsibility and social awareness in teenagers, broadens their understanding of the importance of health and safety, and contributes to developing emotional resilience and the ability to remain composed in stressful situations.
On October 13, 2024, 20 students from I. Franko Ternopil Ukrainian Gymnasium learned first aid skills at the Ternopil National Medical University’s simulation training center. The teaching is a part of the Erasmus+ program project, “Training and Dissemination of Emergency Aid Skills for Higher Education Institutions and Community Representatives Living in Potentially High Militaristic Risk Zones in Ukraine and Georgia (LIFESTRAND).”
The students gained cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills, how to stop and control critical bleeding, and how to aid the injured. They demonstrated a high level of social responsibility for their actions.
