American Instructor Launches Biomechanics Course for Prosthetists and Orthotists

Thanks to the support of Antonina Kumka, General Director of Protez Hub, a unique biomechanics course for prosthetists and orthotists began on April 7, 2025, for students of the “Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Technologies” program, specializing in prosthetics and orthotics, as well as for instructors of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation.

The course is being led by American instructor Austin G. Davids, a certified expert in orthotics and prosthetics under the ABC program, with five years of clinical experience at a rehabilitation hospital in Washington, D.C.

The program includes an in-depth study of gait analysis and biomechanics in the context of prosthetics and orthotics. In addition to interactive lectures, the course offers hands-on training and familiarization with modern technologies. The content is designed to help students succeed in their further studies in prosthetics and orthotics and begin clinical practice with a solid foundation in biomechanics.

The lectures are conducted in an interactive format. Students and instructors engage in tasks, ask questions freely, and use an online platform to quickly collect audience feedback and visualize the results.

Austin G. Davids has also provided students and faculty with access to presentations, video materials, and other educational resources via Moodle.

Professional interpretation is provided by Vira Hrabchuk, whose work ensures that the course materials are accessible and clearly understood by all participants.
