Easter Egg Painting Workshop at TNMU
On April 15, 2025, a traditional Easter egg painting (pysanka) workshop was held at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, organized by the Center for Educational Work and Cultural Development.
The masterclass was conducted by the renowned folk artist Yaroslav Osadtsa, who introduced both Ukrainian and international students to the ancient Lemko technique of decorating Easter eggs. He shared insights into the origins of this art form, traditional customs associated with pysanky, and the different types of designs.
Students and faculty alike were eager to learn, carefully imitating the master’s techniques and exploring new skills. Creating a pysanka is a deeply symbolic process — a journey into a world of beauty and meaning. In Ukrainian culture, the pysanka is not only one of the most ancient symbols but also a powerful talisman, believed to ward off evil and bring goodness to the world.
Participants left the workshop filled with joy, peace, and anticipation of the Bright Easter holiday.
We extend our sincere thanks to Yaroslav Osadtsa, the TNMU Center for Mental Health, and the university cafeteria for their support — and we look forward to more inspiring events ahead!
