The EU-funded SAFE project (“Supporting At-Risk Researchers with Fellowships in Europe”) has launched its call for fellowship applications, open from November 18, 2024, to January 20, 2025, at 23:59 CET.
SAFE Fellowships Overview: SAFE offers 60 fully funded fellowships for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers of any non-EU nationality to spend up to 24 months at a research institution within the European Union. Fellowships will be awarded under two tracks:
- Track A: At-risk researchers currently outside the EU.
- Track B: At-risk researchers already within the EU.
Host Institution participation: Academic or non-academic research organisations in the EU are invited to submit applications on behalf of eligible at-risk researchers. Comprehensive details about eligibility, application requirements, and the process are available in the Call for Applications and the Terms of Reference for Applicants on the project’s website.
Matchmaking service: SAFE is also offering an optional matchmaking service until mid-December to connect researchers and potential host institutions who do not have prior contact.
Upcoming info session: A virtual launch event and info session will be held on November 19, 2024, from 14:00 to 15:30 CET. This webinar will provide insights into the application process and matchmaking service, aimed at EU-based host institutions and at-risk researchers worldwide. Register here (registration closes today!).
